Subaru obsessed with safety? You could say that. Subaru’s wholehearted commitment to engineering excellence and driver safety means you can drive with complete confidence – and peace of mind – wherever the journey takes you.

For over 50 years, Subaru has embraced the challenge to keep every road user safe. Every Subaru is built with purpose, based on Subaru All-Around Safety. The moment you step in the vehicle, you can count on Subaru for a safer drive. Not only for the driver and passengers, but also for pedestrians and other cars on the road. It comes down to Primary, Active, Preventive and Passive Safety. Not just random words, they mean that every Subaru is built with safety enhancements to empower the driver, protect passengers, prevent collisions and avoid hazards.

Vehicle safety is a top priority, for peace of mind and enjoyment on every drive.

Subaru Primary Safety

Subaru approaches vehicle design with accident avoidance in mind.

Car design optimised for safety

Primary Safety is the foundation of Subaru All-Around Safety: cars are designed from the ground up with safety in mind. Primary Safety is not an add-on, it’s built-in. Every element of the car, right down to the position of the side mirrors, is designed to make the driver more comfortable and give maximum control and visibility. The driver can concentrate more on driving, so accidents are less likely to occur to begin with.

Enhanced visibility

Multiple design features are put in place to optimise visibility while driving, especially during difficult weather or nighttime conditions. Blind spots are tricky for any driver, and that’s why Subaru has fine-tuned the pillar and windshield shape to minimise obstructions and provide a clearer view. Automatic headlamps and a rain sensor also help to improve visibility, and by adapting automatically, won’t detract the driver’s attention away from the road.

Pillar

Pillar width is minimised to reduce obstructions.

Windshield

Windshield area is enlarged to provide a clearer view.

Side mirrors

Side mirrors are positioned to give maximum visibility.

Windshield wipers

Windshield wipers are stored out of sight.

Triangular windows

Triangular-shaped windows are designed for better visibility.

Comfortable cockpit

Subaru has gone all out to ensure maximum comfort for the driver. Ergonomic seating and adjustable positioning reduce fatigue and make driving easier, which helps increase safety, especially on long trips. By finding the optimal driving position, drivers can move more naturally and steer the car more precisely during manoeuvres.

Every element of the car, right down to the position of the side mirrors, is designed to make the driver more comfortable and give maximum control and visibility.

Intuitive control

Every driver has been there at one time or another: adjusting the air conditioning, turning up the volume or checking the navigation, which leads to a lapse in concentration. Subaru has designed an intuitive dashboard interface, so drivers can make adjustments easier, without having to take their eyes off the road.

Navigation screen is positioned closer to the driver’s line of vision.

Large air conditioning knobs and controls are more visible and easier to check.

Audio controls on the steering wheel spokes are easy to adjust, without removing hands from the wheel.

These are just a few of the safety features that help you focus on the drive, whatever challenge you might face. Slippery turns, road hazards, unpredictable manoeuvres, poor weather? Subaru’s got your back, day in, day out. Once you have that peace of mind, the drive – and the fun – can truly begin!
