Euro NCAP (The European New Car Assessment Programme) has awarded the new 2010MY Legacy Station Wagon 2.0D Sport LHD model (European specifications) the highest 5-Star safety rating in its combined safety performance tests. These tests have become much more stringent in 2009, and now assess areas such as “Adults Occupant Protection”, “Child Occupant Protection”, “Pedestrian Protection” and “Safety Assist”. Subaru vehicles have been awarded high ratings by other safety assessment (described hereafter), however this is the first time Subaru has been awarded with the highest 5-Star rating from Euro NCAP.

In the US, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the new Legacy and Outback with the 2009 “Top Safety Pick”. With the Tribeca, Forester and Impreza already chosen by IIHS as Top Safety Picks, this makes Subaru the sole manufacturer with 2009 IIHS Top Safety Picks for the entire model range currently available.

In Australia, the new Legacy (called ‘Liberty’) has been awarded 5-Stars for Occupant Protection by ANCAP (Australian New Car Assessment Program) in 2009 tests.

Subaru repeats top position in ADAC Praxistest 2009; the 'Car Owner Satisfaction Survey' conducted in Germany by the ADAC-Motorwelt, Germany‘s leading automotive magazine with a 14 million circulation, announced Subaru is the overall winner of the 36 brands surveyed.

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, announced last week that its new Legacy Series (Legacy Sedan, Legacy Station Wagon and Outback) won the “Best Value Award”, one of the awards by Car of the Year Japan 2009-2010.
